There is an almighty God in the universe. This God made people, loves people, and will do anything to connect with people. He created paradise, clothed Adam and Eve, saved Noah, led Abraham, and empowered Moses to lead His people out of Egypt. He helped to establish a good and safe community of people that He would lead and protect as long as they would honor Him and trust in Him. This God has always looked after His people-- loving them, correcting them, guiding them, leading them. Do we believe in this God? Do we honor God with our time, talents, treasures, and temple?
In his book The Christian Atheist Pastor Craig Groeschel describes his former attitude towards God: “My selfish Christian Atheist view was that God existed for me, rather than I for him. If he’d do what I thought he should, I’d trust him more. If he’d come through for me, I’d give him more of my life. If he made my life better and pain-free, I’d believe him more passionately. But anytime God didn’t meet my expectations, we had a problem. God created me in his image. I returned the favor and created him in mine.”
As God’s people we should establish certain attitude and habits that will be pleasing to God and give Him the glory and honor for life. If we show God the honor that He deserves than He will lead and protect us just as He has always done with His people. When we do not honor God we put ourselves at risk of offending the One who gave us life and breath. Do we truly honor God?
The Worcester United Methodist Church develops disciples by sowing love and worship of the Father, growing in the teachings of Jesus, and going to all people with the good news through the power of the Holy Spirit.

You may have heard Pastor Jerry mention during worhsip a book that he recommends for reading. It is called: The Christian Atheist: Believing in God, but Living as if He Doesn't Exist and is available in the sanctuary for $10.
Read it if you dare.
An excerpt from the Christian Atheist website:
The Christian Atheist, by recovering Christian Atheist Craig Groeschel, is an honest, hard-hitting and eye-opening look into the ways people believe in God but live as if he doesn’t exist. From his own lapses in faith as a young man to the painful self-admission he had to make as an established pastor, Groeschel’s own journey will immerse you and challenge you into a deeper, Christ-filled life.
